Membership
is open to anyone, of any age, with an interest in the natural world
- astronomy, botany, birding, geology, nature photography, zoology.
Most of our
membership is from Scarborough, Markham and the Pickering/Ajax area,
but we have members from farther afield as well. All are welcome.
Cost of Membership
is: Single $21.00 Family $25.00 (per year)
Life $250.00
Membership
benefits:
- Monthly
meetings (September through June each year) with fascinating
guest speakers
- Regular
events - during most months we have 2 or 3 field trips and
outings. These outings can range from Niagara Falls to the
eastern Lake Ontario shoreline, and north to Algonquin Park, but
most are local to the Durham region and eastern Toronto.
Why
should you become a member?
- It's a
great opportunity to meet other people in eastern Toronto and
Durham region who are interested in nature. Our members have
traveled throughout the world to pursue their interests, and can
offer great advice and experience.
- The club
supports local conservation initiatives and projects like the
Altona Forest and the Thickson's Woods Land Trust.
- The club
performs a watchdog role in Pickering and Durham for
environmental and conservation issues.
Monthly meetings-The
first meeting of the season is in September, 2007. This
will be a special date.
After September our meetings will be the first Thursday of each
month.
Pickering on the first Thursday of each month unless otherwise
noted. Our
new meeting location is in the one of the O'Brien Rooms at
the Pickering Recreation Complex, 1867
Valley Farm Road.
